THE MINING AND METALS CENTRAL ASIA AND KAZCOMAK 2024 EXHIBITIONS HAVE ONCE AGAIN BECOME AN IMPORTANT PLATFORM FOR DISCUSSING CURRENT ISSUES IN THE MINING AND METALLURGY AND ROAD AND PUBLIC UTILITIES SECTORS
FROM SEPTEMBER 17 TO 19, 2024, ALMATY BECAME THE CENTER OF INTERNATIONAL ATTENTION, THANKS TO TWO SIGNIFICANT EXHIBITIONS IN THE FIELD OF MINING AND METALLURGY AND ROAD AND PUBLIC UTILITIES SECTORS: THE 29TH CENTRAL ASIAN INTERNATIONAL MINING EQUIPMENT, EXTRACTION AND BENEFICIATION OF ORES AND MINERALS EXHIBITION - MINING & METALS CENTRAL ASIA 2024 AND THE 20TH KAZAKHSTAN INTERNATIONAL ROAD AND HEAVY CONSTRUCTION, COMMUNAL MACHINERY EXHIBITION - KAZCOMAK 2024.
The exhibitions gathered 5,710 unique visitors, becoming a significant event for the entire industry.
This year, 402 companies from 34 countries became participants, including representatives from Australia, Austria, Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, India, Iran, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Cyprus, China, Lithuania, Norway, UAE, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, USA, Turkey, Finland, France, Switzerland, Sweden, South Africa, South Korea, Czech Republic, Chile, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine. Companies from Great Britain, Germany, China, and Turkey united into national stands and presented their solutions. The expo events became a center of attraction for 184 domestic companies and 218 international participants, demonstrating a growing interest in the region and its potential. Exhibitors highly appreciated the exhibition’s opportunities for strengthening business ties and exchanging experience. Alim Zhubanov, Marketing Director of Metso, said: “This is already our second large-scale project of participation in the Mining and Metals Central Asia exhibition, and, of course, it attracts both regional and global leaders in the field. We really like to participate because we have a great opportunity to meet our customers in an informal setting, not in offices, but at wonderful stands”. His opinion was supported by Zarina Dogambekova, Marketing Specialist of KOMEK MACHINERY Kazakhstan LLP, emphasizing that participation in the exhibition opens up excellent prospects for business development: “This is a unique platform that allows us not only to demonstrate our capabilities, but also to assess the competitive environment, identify key trends and determine market leaders”.
The exhibitions surprised with their scale and diversity of the technologies presented. The 2024 exposition was held in three pavilions, where participants presented their advanced technologies, and 80 units of special equipment were presented at the outdoor exhibition. The total area was an impressive 20 thousand square meters, which is 25% more than the previous year. The increase in area made it possible to accommodate 74 new exhibitors, which amounted to 18% of the total number of participants. Such an increase indicates significant interest and a growing number of companies seeking to present their latest developments and solutions on this platform. Participants noted the high level of organization of the event and the opportunity to establish useful business contacts.

The business program, which included 16 sessions, attracted the attention of both industry professionals and representatives of the government and industry associations. The exhibitions began with a Plenary Session on the topic “ESG Initiatives in the Mining and Metallurgical Complex of Kazakhstan: Overcoming Challenges and Searching for New Opportunities”, the speakers of which were Turar Zholmagambetov, Deputy Chairman of the Industry Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerbolat Kozhikov, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kathy Leach, British Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Tulegen Mukhanov, Advisor to the Executive Director of the Republican Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises ALE, Professor, Honorary Miner of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician of the International Academy of Informatization, Ruslan Baimishev, President of the Kazakhstan Chamber of Mines, Askar Sembin, Advisor to the General Director of Park of Innovative Technologies Autonomous Cluster Fund, and other industry experts and practitioners. The session was moderated by Askar Kukeyev, Head of Mining and Metallurgy Sector Consulting Practice, Senior Manager of Strategy & PwC. Tulegen Mukhanov, Academician of the International Academy of Informatization, noted in his speech: “Today we can say with confidence that in almost three decades, the Mining and Metals Central Asia exhibition has become the most important event in the mining and metallurgy sector. The exhibition attracts the attention of many domestic and foreign companies, provides an opportunity to demonstrate modern achievements and new technologies”.
The plenary session concluded with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the participation of the speakers, as well as Edward Strachan, Director of ICA JV, Boris Danilenko, Director of Iteca Kazakhstan Exhibition Company, which marked the official opening of the exhibitions. Later, the guests of honor took a familiarization tour of the exposition.
Also, the content of the business program included the session: “IT architecture and application of AI in the mining and metallurgy industry”, “Cyber resilience and cyber threat: man as a key element”. In partnership with AMM Congress, AMM Tech, dedicated to the topic of new technologies, innovations and practical solutions, was held. In addition, seminars from ProLabSupport, RIVS NGO, Altel Business, DNA-BLAST MSC, Rikaz offered unique knowledge and advanced solutions for a deep understanding of current trends and business opportunities.
The Mining & Metals Central Asia and Kazcomak exhibitions have confirmed their reputation as key events in their fields, demonstrating a significant increase in the interest of participants from all over the world.
