MINING & METALS CENTRAL ASIA AND KAZCOMAK 2026 BROUGHT TOGETHER 533 COMPANIES FROM 30 COUNTRIES IN ALMATY

TODAY, 16 SEPTEMBER, THE 31ST CENTRAL ASIAN INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF MINING EQUIPMENT, ORE AND MINERAL EXTRACTION AND PROCESSING — MINING & METALS CENTRAL ASIA 2026 AND THE 22ND KAZAKHSTAN INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF ROAD AND INDUSTRIAL CONSTRUCTION AND MUNICIPAL EQUIPMENT — KAZCOMAK 2026 OPENED IN ALMATY.

Over the course of three days, the exhibition venue will become a centre for professional interaction among representatives of the mining and metallurgical complex, equipment and technology manufacturers, government institutions, industry associations and the international expert community.

In 2026, the exhibitions demonstrate strong growth dynamics both in terms of the number of participants and the scale of the exhibition. 533 companies from 30 countries are presenting equipment, technologies and solutions for the mining, mining and metallurgical, road construction and related industries. The total exhibition area has reached 20,000 sq. m, while the number of participants has increased by more than 10% compared to the previous figure.

This year’s international geography covers Australia, Austria, Belarus, the United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, India, Iran, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, China, Cyprus, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, the UAE, Poland, Russia, the USA, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Finland, France, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden and South Korea. Kazakhstan is represented by 161 companies, while another 372 participants represent the international market. National groups have been formed by Austria, Germany, Canada, China, Russia and Finland, highlighting the sustained interest of international businesses in Kazakhstan’s mining and metallurgical sector.

A significant number of new participants has become a separate indicator of the exhibition’s renewal. 182 companies are participating for the first time in Mining & Metals Central Asia and Kazcomak, accounting for 34% of the total number of exhibitors. Thus, alongside traditional participants, the exhibition venue is expanding its professional community and providing additional opportunities to establish new business contacts, find partners and explore technological offerings from the international market.

The large-scale exhibition is traditionally complemented by a comprehensive business programme focused on key issues in the development of the mining and metallurgical complex. On the first day, 16 September, critical minerals, promising projects, digital transformation of the industry, the implementation of artificial intelligence and international exchange of technological expertise are at the centre of the professional agenda.

The key event of the day was the Plenary Session «The Future of Kazakhstan’s Mining and Metallurgical Sector: Critical Minerals, Projects and New Growth Opportunities». The platform brought together industry representatives to discuss current areas for the further development of the mining and metallurgical complex, the potential of critical minerals and new opportunities for implementing industry projects. The opening ceremony was attended by Asset Matayev, Director of the Subsoil Use Department, Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Tulegen Mukhanov, Professor, Honoured Miner of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Adviser to the Executive Director of AGMP; H.E. Christopher Duggan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to the Republic of Kazakhstan; Kassymkhan Kozhakhmetov, Director of Government Relations and Business Communications Department, Kazakhmys Corporation LLP; Boris Danilenko, Director of the Kazakhstan Exhibition Company Iteca.

The speakers of the Plenary Session included Asset Matayev, Ruslan Baimishev, Alexander Kolonyuk, Turar Zholmagambetov, Alisher Bazarbayev and Lance Christodoulou. The Plenary Session was moderated by Askar Kukeyev, Head of Consulting Practice for the Mining, Metals and Oil & Gas Sector, Senior Manager, Strategy & PwC Kazakhstan. In his welcoming speech, Asset Matayev, Director of the Subsoil Use Department, Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted: «The modern mining industry is no longer only about production volumes. Technological efficiency, environmental responsibility, industrial safety, rational use of subsoil and the implementation of advanced solutions at all stages — from geological exploration to the processing of final products — are becoming increasingly important. I am confident that Mining & Metals Central Asia will continue to serve as an effective platform for constructive dialogue between government and business, the exchange of international experience, the establishment of new business contacts and the implementation of promising investment projects».

The technological agenda continued with the AI Stage «Assessing Digital Maturity and AI Readiness in Mining: From Data Richness to Decision Readiness». The platform’s theme reflects the growing role of data, digital tools and artificial intelligence in transforming production processes and developing new approaches to managerial decision-making in the mining industry.

International experience was presented as part of the Canadian Group Workshop «Canadian Expertise and Solutions for the Global Mining Industry». The professional programme of the first day also included a series of practical seminars by CIDRA Minerals Processing Inc., Earth Technology, FLS, Epiroc and Sandvik, during which participants presented industry developments, technological solutions and practical experience.

The business programme will continue tomorrow, 17 September. One of its central events will be the GEOTECH FORUM, bringing together two thematic blocks — «Kazakhstan’s New Policy Architecture and the Future of the Mining Industry» and «Digital Mining and Metals: From Automation to Intelligent Management and Robotisation». The second day’s agenda will also include the AI Stage «Operational Efficiency Diagnostics: Identifying and Validating Value Across the Mine-to-Mill Chain», the round table «Best Practices Day: Presentation of German Industrial Solutions for Kazakhstan», as well as practical seminars by Normet and Composit.

The combination of a large-scale international exhibition and specialised discussion platforms creates a comprehensive professional environment for discussing current industry challenges and prospects for further development. Mining & Metals Central Asia and Kazcomak 2026 provide participants with an opportunity not only to showcase equipment and technological solutions, but also to establish direct dialogue between businesses, government institutions, industry associations and international partners.
